November 20, 2018 -- Alley Spring Mill
.
This is Alley Spring Mill near Eminence, Missouri. The present building was constructed during 1893-1894 by George Washington McCaskill as a merchant mill and is larger than most mills in the area. The mill utilizes a water turbine as its power source, rather than a water wheel, and deposits 81 million gallons of water daily into the nearby Jacks Fork River.
Alley Spring, the area’s namesake, is the seventh largest spring in Missouri and the spring conduit is known to extend at least 3000 feet underground.
