The 8-88 series was introduced in 1925 as the first line of Auburns developed under the direction of E.L Cord. Mr. Cord was not satisfied with a mere up-to-date design, he wanted to establish Auburn as a marque of distinction. The introduction of the hood and body moldinq, a reasonably priced eiqht cylinder line, and multi-colored paint schemes set Auburn apart from other automobiles.
In 1926 the average automobile manufacturer had a sales increase of one percent; Auburn had in the same time period an increase of fifty-two percent. Meadowgold Sign - Tulsa -- I’ve been trying to photograph this sign for over 5 years, hoping to catch it with ALL the letters working – still not having much luck. This sign has been a Tulsa and Route 66 icon since the 1930s, advertising dairy products as part of the Beatrice Foods Company. It’s equipped with two 30’ X 30’ faces and was the largest sign of any kind in Tulsa at the time of its construction. It went dark in the 1990s after decades of declining fortunes for Beatrice Foods Co and in the early 2000s, a car dealership bought the building where the sign stood and announced they would demolish both the building and the sign to make room for a new showroom.
Through the efforts of preservationists and the larger Tulsa community, the sign was dismantled and donated to the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture. A new home was needed for the sign, so a special building with commemorative plaques was erected along old Route 66, just a mile west of the sign’s original location. This new building is a low, one-story brick support pavilion that includes a prominent Route 66 road sign embedded in its mantel.
The work was made possible partly due to a grant from the National Park Service Route 66 Corridor Preservation Program, and the committed partnership of the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture, the City of Tulsa, and the Oklahoma Route 66 Association, who all made significant contributions to the effort to save the sign.090920190715FPZ13952019AfterDarkJulyMonthsNeonNikonNikon Z6OklahomaOtherRte_66SignsTravelTulsa

On display in the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Museum (Auburn, Indiana) This 1932 Auburn Speedster nicknamed “Beelzebub” was owned by Sam Collier, of New York’s Collier Advertising dynasty. Sam was instrumental in forming the Automobile Racing Club of America in the 1930s.
The vehicle was modified for racing by adding small windshields, a large tachometer, additional lamps and the copper cooling coil seen atop the radiator (closeup of that coil can be viewed here -- https://franks-focus.smugmug.com/Travel/Indiana/Auburn/i-7hBWWFj/A
In 1933, the vehicle was raced in Europe against smaller cars such as MGs, Bugattis and Ford Model As and it took top honors at the 1936 Cotton Carnival Road Race in Memphis, Tennessee. Owens-Thomas House Gardens in Savannah, Georgia.
Construction of this important and architecturally significant house was begun in 1816 and completed in 1819. Designed by the English architect William Jay of Bath, the house plans were drawn while Jay was still in England. He sent architectural elevations to local workers before his arrival in Savannah sometime after foundations were laid. According to Jay's letters, the house was to be aesthetically compatible to Bath, England. This is evident in the Bath stone of the house's construction as well as its sophisticated architectural detail. It was a gentrifying physical ornament to the newly successful Southern port. The Richardson House, as it was originally known after its first owner and builder, is North America's preeminent example of period English Regency architecture. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976, as one of the nation's finest examples of English Regency architecture

This small steam locomotive is mounted and is being used as a sign to advertise the Eureka Springs & North Arkansas Railway location at the former Eureka Springs, Arkansas depot. The locomotive is an 0-4-0 narrow-gauge switcher, built in 1935 by Buescher & Sons, of Berlin, Germany. Only 5 of these Silver Arrow models were built and only 3 are known to remain. Introductory information at the time described it as “designed as a car that could not be ignored.” The car caused an absolute sensation, with a futuristic design that included spare wheels hidden in a body panel just behind the front wheels, a wide-degree angle V-12 and a top speed of 115 mph (185 km/h). Wawatam Lighthouse is an automated, modern lighthouse that guards the harbor of St. Ignace, Michigan in the Straits of Mackinac and takes its name from the late railroad ferry Chief Wawatam, which used this same dock from 1911 through the mid-1980''s.
This classic lighthouse started life in 1998 as a Michigan Welcome Center travel icon at Monroe, Michigan. In 2004, the Monroe Welcome Center was being revamped and the lighthouse was put up for relocation. The City of St. Ignace was the lucky recipient and the structure was trucked north in five pieces. Wawatam Lighthouse''s beacon at the new locaton was first lit on August 20, 2006. Visible for more than 13 miles out over Lake Huron, it is now an official aid-to-navigation. The 250 millimeter Fresnel lens casts its light in a 152 degree arc.

Anthony Chapel at Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs, Arkansas is one of the "22 coolest places to get married in America" according to Buzzfeed.
