January 11, 2021 -- Monday's Mural
.
This mural along old U.S. 66 in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma depicts a homeless veteran with his cart of possessions by local artist and Army Veteran Josh Butts.
The grizzled man depicted in the mural pushes against the wind with a shopping cart filled with items representing causes of his homelessness, including mental illness, addiction and childhood trauma. The man carries in his pocket lyrics from Bob Dylan's "Idiot Wind," which read, "You’ll never know the hurt I suffered nor the pain I rise above. And I’ll never know the same about you. Your holiness or your kind of love."

2 weeks agoVery striking, compelling mural to get a message across - a message and situation that doesn't seem to change much over time.

2 weeks agoI am a huge fan of public art and murals happen to be among my favorite "mediums" of art! As a matter of fact, I traveled to three cities this past weekend and photographed a few murals - some that I will be sharing as "Daily Photo" in the near future!
