.
Built in 1923, this old steel truss bridge is part of the original roadbed for the original 1926 configuration of U.S. 66. It crosses Johnson Creek just east of Spencer, Missouri. You can see the old Phillips 66 Sign of the old buildings in Spencer that I posted as daily post on Saturday, 2/25/23.
My postings & comments for the next month or so may be sporadic at best. We're in the process of selling & buying houses, so all the issues of prepping the old one for sale (and keeping it 'show ready') while making some cosmetic changes with the new one will be time consuming. Hopefully, we'll be fully settled by mid-April.

3 weeks agoI was just thinking about that bridge the other day while I was commenting on your photo of the old service station. This is a fabulous shot of it with the station in the background. All the best on the new house project.

3 weeks agoI love old bridges like this one, and it's neat to realize that it was part of Route 66!
Good luck with the buying/selling process, and the move as well!

3 weeks agoNeat to see the old filling station just beyond the old iron bridge! Sounds like you are going to be really busy for a while....it is exciting to decorate and furnish a new house. Good luck with the sales.

3 weeks agoA very functional and probably not the most aesthetic looking bridge, but I love structures like that built for a purpose and still serving it 100 years on. I love the way it frames the route 66 sign as well.
