.
An old rock service station/garage with attached diner along old U.S. 66 is about the only thing left of once bustling Spencer, Missouri. Clearly it was a time when gasoline was 12-cents/gallon for regular and 14-cents for "ethyl".
This section of U.S. 66 was constructed in 1926 and the station dates to 1929-30

4 weeks agoWe've actually been by this place several years ago. And, if my memory serves me right, I believe the prices for gas on the sign were the same then as they are in this image. I don't believe however that the diner was there when we stopped by. Great find and great capture Frank. I love it!

4 weeks agoWell captured shot of this vintage station . I like that you got the Phillips 66 sign along with the signs of the gas prices and the old cooler. With everything so congested around here where I live, it's hard for me to imagine driving through such vast land with places such as this that show the history.

4 weeks agoTerrific find Frank, an old classic just waiting for someone to bring it back to life. I remember those days too - when you got change back from your $5 bill after filling up your big old gas guzzler.
